Why Bangkok's Tunnelparks Are Literally THE VIBE 🌿✨
By Mai Wongsuwan, Founder of Infinite Thailand Youth League
OMG The Traffic is SENDING ME 😫
So picture this: I'm sitting in the back of a Grab for the THIRD hour (not exaggerating), watching my phone battery drain faster than my will to live. The driver's playing some sad love song for the fifth time, and I'm about to miss meeting my friends. Again. Because of gestures broadly THIS:
We've all been there. Bangkok traffic is basically our collective villain origin story. If someone asked me to explain Thai culture to a foreigner, I'd just show them a pic of Sukhumvit Road at 6 PM and be like "that's the trauma we all share" 💀
The Solution is Big Brain Energy 🧠
What if I told you we could fix this? And no, I'm not talking about another transit system that takes 17 years to build three stations.
I'm talking TUNNELPARKS. And it's exactly what it sounds like:
Take traffic ➡️ Put it in tunnels underground
Take all that road space above ➡️ Turn it into PARKS
Profit??? (Actually yes)
The cars? Gone. Underground. Bye. The concrete hellscape? Now it's trees, grass, and places to chill.
It's basically like playing SimCity but in real life, and whoever came up with this deserves free boba for LIFE.
Why Tunnelparks Are Actually God Tier 👑
No more traffic apocalypse - Cars still get where they need to go, just not in my face
Actual green space - So we can touch grass without going to Lumpini
Clean air??? - Imagine Bangkok but your white shirt stays white ALL DAY
Places to hang that aren't malls - Shopping is cool but my wallet needs a break
Temperature drop - Maybe we can finally stop being sweaty 24/7
The math is mathing, the science is sciencing. This is the future and I want it NOW.
This Could Be Us But Bangkok is Playing 🌆
Imagine this scenario:
You wake up. The air doesn't smell like car exhaust. You walk outside and there's TREES. Actual trees, not those sad little ones in concrete boxes. You meet your friends at the tunnelpark near Siam, which used to be like 6 lanes of traffic but is now basically our own Central Park.
You can hear birds. BIRDS. IN BANGKOK. Is this even real life??
Some grandmas are doing tai chi. Some cool kids are skateboarding. Some office people are having lunch on the grass. And you? You're just vibing, breathing air that doesn't hurt your lungs.
OK But How Do We Make This Happen? 🤔
The tunnelparks are part of this whole Infinite Thailand vision (which sounds like an anime title but is actually super legit).
Here's the part where most posts would get all serious about policy and government stuff, but let's keep it 💯:
We need to make enough noise about this that it can't be ignored
The more of us who know about it, the more pressure to make it real
Sharing this post = literally helping create a better Bangkok
No Cap - This is the Future We Deserve ⚡
I'm not trying to be dramatic, but tunnelparks could literally change everything about living in Bangkok. And unlike flying cars or teleportation, this is actually POSSIBLE. Like, right now.
Cities around the world are already removing highways and putting in parks. We just need to level up and put our highways underground instead of removing them (because let's be real, we still need to get places).
